As I began thinking about this article today, the word hope came to my mind. Who and where do I place my hope. I really don’t like to admit it, but often my hope is in myself. By my strength I can get through whatever I am facing. However, there are times when my hope is in others, being financially secure, or a hoped-for outcome. The list can go on and on.
Psalm 119:114 says “You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word (NIV). God wants all of humanity to place their trust in Him and His Word. It is not breaking news that we are all going to face many things in this life that we don’t understand. There are going to be things we can’t fix on our own, circumstances others can’t fix, times when we are not financially secure and again our list can go on and on. When these times come, we turn to God and His word. That is where we find that He will never leave us or forsake us. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Scripture has the answers to all of life’s problems if we just read and study. I close with the following quote. “Surrender to the Lord means turning around one hundred and eighty degrees—that means a renewed person and renewed vision. . . . We are not ready for the battle until we have seen the Lord, for Jesus is the answer to all problems.” CORRIE TEN BOOM (1892–1983) . As the old song says “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness (Hymn The Solid Rock). Where is your Hope today?
